Broad Avenue Residence
Bill Bibb, Archiverde Dallas

This meticulously restored home overlooking the Trinity River was originally designed in 1915 by Chicago-based David Adler, with landscape architecture by Hare & Hare of Kansas City. The home’s interior was brought back, and a new wing was added to include a pool house, garage, and auto-court. Original garden elements, including a great lawn and entry court, stepped lawn terraces, a koi pond and Rose garden, a belvedere, and a conservatory greenhouse, were restored and new, complementary elements were introduced, including a pool and spa, fountain terrace, oval terrace, and gallery walk.  more photos

The Residence of Beverly and John Snyder
Kevin Sloan, Kevin Sloan Studio, with Greg Ibañez, Ibañez Architecture

Nearly everything about this new home and landscape is bold and dramatic – the positioning on a 100-foot bluff, the giant teardrop shaped forecourt, the commanding stone pergola and the astonishing fifteen-mile view out over the Trinity River. The detailing is exquisite, from the finely wrought stonework to the lush planting palette and an elegant fountain that feeds a hidden grotto – an ideal place for family gatherings, entertaining, and fundraising events held by the philanthropic, art-collecting owners. more photos

David Hocker, Hocker Design Group, with Cunningham Architects

The subdued elegance of this contemporary home is complemented by a restrained and exquisitely detailed garden, which is anchored by a specimen pecan tree. The entry walk is bordered by an allée of multi-trunk mesquite trees, cacti and a refined boulder wall. On one side of the house is a shaded formal lawn bordered by a cast-in-place concrete seat wall. On the opposite side is a sinuous water feature, and area for outdoor seating and a kitchen garden. more photos
