    Ernest Wong, Founder and Principal of Site Design Group, leads a tour of three of the firm’s award-winning urban parks. The tour begins at the Park at Lakeshore East, a 5.6 acre oasis in the heart of the Lake Shore East development, which features a blend of vast green spaces, cascading water elements, and intimate gardens. Next we travel to Bridgeport to explore Stearns Quarry Environmental Park, transformed from an old stone quarry into a sustainable park with wetland terraces, native plants, and a fishing pond.

    This panel of expert historians and historic landscape stewards will explore the relationship between two of America's greatest nineteenth-century Romantic landscapes: Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux's Central Park, and Olana, Frederic Church's villa and landscape garden. Speakers include Sara Cedar Miller, Central Park Conservancy historian and photographer and author of Central Park: An American Masterpiece; Katherine H. Kerin, Olana Landscape Curator; Evelyn D. Trebilcock, Olana Curator. Elizabeth Barlow Rogers, President, Foundation for Landscape Studies, will moderate.

    Heavy rainfall frequently inundates New York’s combined sewer system and threatens the health of our waterways with untreated spills. The Storm Water Infrastructure Matters (S.W.I.M.) Coalition challenged designers to consider how the city can use its 6,000 miles of roadway and 12,000 miles of sidewalk as an opportunity for managing its stormwater challenges.
