Nancy Slade, ASLA

Nancy Slade, ASLA, currently serves on the Archives and Collections Committee and the Tellers Committee for the American Society of Landscape Architects. Formerly with TCLF, she was the Project Manager for the Pioneers of American Landscape Design® initiative where she oversaw the development of ten on-line modules of The Pioneers Oral History Project including histories on the careers of Stuart O. Dawson, Richard Haag, Lawrence Halprin, Cornelia Hahn Oberlander, Laurie Olin and James van Sweden. This series received the American Society of Landscape Architects Award of Excellence in Communications in 2010. She coordinated with the University of Virginia Press and the contributing authors on the publication of Shaping the American Landscape: New Profiles from the Pioneer of American Landscape Design Project (2009). Prior to joining TCLF Ms. Slade worked at the National Park Service, Historic Landscape Initiative in Washington, D.C. Her responsibilities included research for The Index of Designed American Landscapes and the coordination of several HLI publications, including Preserving Modern Landscape Architecture II (2004) and Design with Culture (2005). She has authored essays on John O. Simonds and Lester Collins for Shaping the American Landscape. She holds a Bachelor in Fine Arts from Skidmore College, a degree in Landscape Design from George Washington University and a Master of Landscape Architecture from Virginia Tech.
