threat

Today, there are no specific threats facing these horticultural features. However, their location on major tourist paths on the National Mall has caused accelerated soil and root compaction, which will eventually affect the trees’ growth and longevity. Furthermore, the threat of further development and construction on the Mall will continue to threaten these great American treasures.
