Become Aware

Houstonians can help preserve the majestic Live Oak Allée along Main Street through awareness and concern. Although the boulevard is a busy thoroughfare for traffic, it is also commonly used by joggers, bicyclists, students, and naturalists commuting to adjacent Hermann Park. Citizens not only appreciate the beauty and longevity of the trees but the shade they provide on a hot, humid summer day. Past threats to the trees have been met with much resistance from citizen groups and nonprofit organizations, however, citizens and community groups must be dutiful in their awareness and protection of the trees.

Get Involved

Supporting the city’s good stewardship practices is important in preserving these treasures. Trees For Houston is one of many groups which has helped preserve and protect this unique tree collection over the years. As a nonprofit organization, Trees for Houston is dedicated to planting, promoting, and protecting trees in the city, especially those of historical import. By joining with such groups, citizens can help keep Houston’s important tree canopy healthy. For more information you can visit Trees for Houston.
