James Corner, ASLA

Mr. Corner is the Principal of James Corner Field Operations, an international landscape architectural and urban design practice based in New York City. His design projects, which include the High Line in New York and Fresh Kills Park in Staten Island, have won numerous awards and have been exhibited internationally. He is the co-author of Taking Measures Across the American Landscape, which received the AIA International Book of the Year Award and the ASLA Award of Honor. He is also the editor of Recovering Landscape: Essays in Contemporary Landscape Architecture. Mr. Corner’s work has been recognized with the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award, the New York City Arts Commission Award for Excellence in Design; the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Academy Award in Architecture; the Daimler-Chrysler Award for Design Innovation; and the Architectural League of New York Design Award. He is chair of the University of Pennsylvania's School of Design Department of Landscape Architecture, and has taught courses and seminars, lectured and exhibited work around the world.
