threat

The Glendora Bougainvillea faces threats related to the age of the palms, increasing population density, and insufficient care by its steward. With the National Register listing, Dr. L J. Pittman applied for financial assistance to surround each tree with a pipe trellis and to provide the essential pruning to render this new structure invisible. However, the vines have continued to grow rapidly and are in need of more significant care, including a regular pruning schedule. This need is augmented by the unusually severe winters that recently have caused significant dieback, threatening re-growth if left in place.
