Learn and Discover

The public is invited to read the interpretive sign that is located in the vicinity of the tree. By learning more about the tree, visitors are connected to the region’s prairie past. The Henry Ford Estate staff discourages visitors from walking up to the tree by keeping the lawn grass relatively high. Minimizing traffic near the tree also protects the soil above the roots from compaction. The public is also asked to refrain from carving in the tree or climbing on it.
