threat

The greatest threat to this horticultural feature is time. Although relatively little die back has been observed over the past five years, the backside of the tree is almost completely hollowed out from repeated lightening strikes. Bracing has been installed within the hollow space, however, the exposed wood is subject to insect and fungal infestation, compromising the trunk and the tree in general.
