While lightening strikes, earthquakes, and extreme drought all endanger these trees, the greatest threat is the potential for poor stewardship choices. The current stewards have made extensive progress in repairing the damage from years of less-informed pruning practices; however, skilled arborists are required to vigilantly maintain the non-native trees and assure their survival.
