The public must continue their role as oversight stewards of appropriate horticultural care for these trees. The pair has the potential lifespan of at least another two hundred years. In 1990, a long-term, management plan for the trees was established. For the trees to reach their lifespan, this plan must stay in place and be adhered to consistently.

One of the goals of the Rancho Los Alamitos Foundation is to raise sufficient annual funds to continue to support the contracting of high-quality, trained arborists to work with the site's Chief Horticulturalist in caring for the trees. Those wishing to support this work can become members or make donations to the Rancho Los Alamitos Foundation. For more information, visit Rancho Los Alamitos Foundation.
