ArtistsThe artists were selected by George Eastman House curators based on their expertise in contemporary photography and their interest in linking art and cultural landscapes. The collection represents a diversity of styles and creative approaches, unique to both the artists and the sites. George Eastman House CuratorsAlison Nordström is the Curator of Photographs at George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film in Rochester, New York. Previously the Director and Senior Curator of the Southeast Museum of Photography in Daytona Beach, Florida, she has curated over one hundred photographic exhibitions and is widely published. She has a particular interest in contemporary art that mixes media and disciplines, and in projects that trace the histories of representation. Nordström holds a BA in English Literature, an MLS with museum emphasis, and a PhD in Cultural and Visual Studies. Read notes from the curator... Jessica Johnston is part of the curatorial team in the Department of Photographs at George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film in Rochester, New York. She manages numerous projects including the museum’s recent participation on the Flickr Commons. She is co-curator for Africas: Photographs from the Permanent Collection at George Eastman House and is currently working on the exhibitions and publications Woman and Food, Glorious Food! Johnston is a graduate of Brooks Institute of Photography and holds a MA in Photographic Preservation and Collections Management from Ryerson University.
