Kent, Washington Threat continued
The site will continue to be impacted by intensive building in the upper watershed, placing ever greater regulatory pressures on this stormwater and riparian corridor. Courtesy Marc Treib The City is working towards an agreement between multiple regulatory agencies to clarify how the trio of functions (public park, water detention dam, artwork) will be managed and maintained, now and in the future. Yet even with local landmark status and a future interagency agreement, it may be a challenge for the City to maintain the work to an international standard. In an effort to increase resources, both financial and advisory, the Kent Arts Commission plans to move forward with a nomination for National Historic Landmark designation, with the goal of achieving both “exceptional significance” and “national significance.”
