Ms Meyer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Virginia. Her teaching focuses on the intersection of design practices, theoretical speculation, and historical inquiry. Prior to joining the UVA faculty as Department chair in 1993, Meyer taught at Harvard and Cornell. She is a registered landscape architect who practiced with EDAW, Hanna/Olin and Michael Vergason Associates on landscape plans for Carnegie Mellon, the University of Virginia, and Bryant Park. She has received awards from the ASLA as well as Progressive Architecture. Since her shift towards full-time teaching, Meyer consults with firms such as MVVA and Chris Counts Studio on innovative applications of landscape history and preservation in contemporary design. In addition, she is a frequent critic on regional and national design juries. Meyer is working on several books including one on the Charlottesville Pedestrian Mall designed by Halprin in the mid 1970s, and another entitled Groundwork: The Margins of Modernity.
