Recent and proposed changes to Parkmerced illustrate the current management’s lack of understanding of the communities’ planning and landscape architecture significance. It is important that the owners— Parkmerced Investors LLP, along with Stellar Management and Alliance Residential Company, and San Francisco State University—are fully aware of the historic value of the Church-designed landscape at Parkmerced.

Get Involved

Docomomo Northern California is dedicated to raising awareness of the Modern Movement's rich legacy in the Bay Area and throughout Northern California and relies on the support of volunteers to document sites like Parkmerced. Such documentation is not only significant for raising awareness of the site, but could also be the potential first step in nominating the site to local or national historic registers. Those interested in getting involved in such projects should contact the Docomomo Northern California.
