Frank Dean
General Superintendent, Golden Gate National Recreation Area
Frank Dean has over 30 years of experience working in the National Park Service. His career began in 1976 when he accepted a position as a ranger in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Superintendent Dean has worked in western national park areas as a ranger in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and Grand Canyon National Park. He was the management assistant at Yosemite National Park and the Chief Ranger and Assistant Superintendent at Point Reyes National Seashore. He served as Superintendent of Saratoga National Historical Park, NY and as Executive Director of the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor. He was named Chief of the Centennial Coordination and Planning Office in Washington D.C in 2008. In addition, he was the Chief of the National Park Service Partnership Office. He holds a BA in geography from San Francisco State University, and a Master’s in public administration from the University of San Francisco.
