Alexis Woods began her landscape design practice in 2001 and has since designed a variety of residential and commercial projects around the San Francisco Bay Area. She received her M.L.A., along with a certificate in historic preservation, from the University of Virginia in 1998, where she also earned the highest honors: the student Award of Honor from the American Society of Landscape Architects and the University of Virginia’s Stanley Abbott Scholarship for Landscape Architecture. During graduate school, Ms. Woods interned for Peter Walker Partners and the Golden Gate Parks Conservancy. Before starting her own practice, she worked for other firms, including Andrea Cochran Landscape Architecture. She and her husband, Daniel Donahoe, produce Teira Wines and sustainably farm 100 acres of vineyards in Sonoma County that have been in her family for 40 years. On several occasions, she has helped San Francisco neighborhood groups begin the process of organizing local support for the improvement and redesign of their neighborhood parks. She is currently a member of The Cultural Landscape Foundation’s Board of Directors.
