The only landscape-architectural designer in the United States to be honored as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire from her Majesty the Queen, Barbara Paca is a highly recognized academic and professional. Well steeped in culture and history, her credentials are numerous, including a professional five-year degree in landscape architecture from the University of Oregon, an M.F.A. and a Ph.D. from Princeton University, a Fulbright Scholarship to Ireland, and a post-doctoral appointment at Princeton’s Institute for Advanced Study. Ms.  Paca established the world’s first postgraduate course in garden conservation at the Architectural Association in London. Promoting diversity, she serves as a commissioner to the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture and is a trustee to the Maryland Historic Trust. Her design projects are noted for integrating her extensive understanding of academic, creative, and intellectual foundations.

Statement: Cornelia Hahn Oberlander has dedicated her life to sharing her vision of a beautiful world. As a woman, she is a change-maker. Her profound gifts have opened the door for diverse practitioners. It is an honor to be a part of an initiative that clearly aligns with the philosophy of my firm, Preservation Green, a women-owned practice in Manhattan and on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
