Barbara Wilks
Barbara Wilks, FAIA, FASLA, principal and founder of W Architecture and Landscape Architecture, is a leader in the field of design. Following an unusual career path, Ms. Wilks is both an architect and a landscape architect who uses her leadership skills to realign nature and the city. She is one of the few individuals elected to both the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects and the American Society of Landscape Architects for her excellence in design, and she has won many awards for her work.
Ms. Wilks is a board member of Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park in Ohio and the Design Trust for Public Space in New York City. She is a member of the Van Alen Institute’s Climate Council, and is a past board member of the National Association for Olmsted Parks, the Maryland Institute Advisory Board, and the Baltimore Museum of Industry. She has served several times on the (Baltimore) Mayor’s Institute for City Design. Ms. Wilks graduated from Cornell University with a B.Arch. and from the University of Pennsylvania with an M.L.A. She has taught at multiple universities, including the City College of New York.
