Bones of the City - A Chicago archaeologist makes the case for digging up the past

Under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, land that receives federal funding has to undergo a review process that, in part, determines whether there’s anything at the site that warrants further archaeological work. An Illinois state report found that wasn’t the case in Jackson Park; the Cultural Landscape Foundation, a nonprofit, has challenged that finding, citing Graff in their appeal to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.
