Garden Dialogues 2013: Hamptons
Oct 05, 2013

In June and October, get exclusive access to private gardens in the Hamptons and hear directly from the designers and their clients about their collaborative process.

How do clients and designers work together? What makes for a great, enduring collaboration? Garden Dialogues provides unique opportunities for small groups to visit some of today’s most beautiful gardens created by some of the most accomplished designers currently in practice.

Thomas Balsley

Saturday, June 1st, 11 to 12:30pm | Amagansett

Alexander Residence
Thomas Balsley of Thomas Balsley Associates

The outdoor living landscape at this oceanside property mediates between dune and a restored meadow environment. Both are viewed from a large glass living space hovering above an outdoor living space comprised of terraces, pools, lawns and perennial gardens.

Edwina von Gal

Saturday, October 5th, 4 to 5:30pm | The Springs

von Gal Garden
Edwina von Gal

The owner of this rectangular five-acre garden, landscape designer Edwina von Gal, calls the site her “play pen, laboratory and retreat.” On this “remarkable piece of land” she constantly experiments, recreating meadow, restoring forest, using mowed paths and log walls. “It is an unruly and willful version of what I do for my clients.”
