This Planners Studio will explore the evolution of landscape design as presented in TCLF's conferences, including: The Second Wave of Modernism (Chicago, 2008) which focused on defining the terms and tactics of a “second wave” of modernism in landscape architecture; The Second Wave of Modernism II: Landscape Complexity and Transformation (New York CIty, MoMA, 2011) which explored three scales of contemporary modernism (residential, urban and metropolitan) and the upcoming Second Wave of Modernism III (Toronto, 2014) which will adopt a case study approach to focus on the complexity, intensity and qualities of the city's rapid change. Lecture by Charles Birnbaum, followed by a panel discussion and Q & A with Harold Madi, Michael McClelland and Janet Rosenberg.
