Tours of New York City’s Designing the Parks Winning Entries

New York, NY

The Cultural Landscape Foundation joins the National Park Service, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, and the Designing the Parks partnership in congratulating the winners of the inaugural Designing the Parks Awards 2010.

In 2008, TCLF co-sponsored with the National Park Service, the University of Virginia, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, the National Parks Conservation Association, the Van Alen Institute and the George Wright Society, a bi-coastal conference that explored the past, present, and future of park planning and design. Sixty-five projects from twenty states and five countries were submitted to compete in this first awards program; seventeen projects were selected by the jury for best representing the spirit of the Designing the Parks principles and for raising the bar of excellence in public park design.

An international group of award winners will be recognized at an invitation-only ceremony in New York in late March. To celebrate and honor NYC’s Designing the Parks winning entries, tours will be conducted of parks located in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn, including Hudson River Park, Tear Drop Park, and Brooklyn Bridge Park (above).

The tours are open to the public, but space is limited and reservations are required.
