Make Visible, Instill Value, and Engage the Public in Our Shared Landscape Heritage. The lecture will be on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, in the Faulkner Gallery at the Santa Barbara Central Library.
Drawing heavily on both the work of The Cultural Landscape Foundation and its many collaborators, the lecture will establish the foundational knowledge that informs the stewardship and interpretation of our landscape legacy. It will explore how we assign value and assess significance for landscapes, such as Rancho San Carlos, Casa del Herrero, and the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, and how we can work (and communicate) holistically across multiple disciplines. The lecture will also highlight diverse cultural resources throughout Santa Barbara and the nation, emphasizing stewardship strategies that can inform and inspire future preservation and management strategies for Rancho San Carlos.
This event is free and open to the public. Reception to follow. More information can be found here.
