Margaret P. Robinson
As a founding partner of Asakura Robinson Company, Margaret Robinson, RLA, ASLA, LEED AP, has guided her Houston, Texas-based firm to address the cultural as well as the aesthetic and technical aspects of her professional commissions. This cultural focus is realized through frequent public workshop participation, opening her Washington Avenue office to the community, and sometimes instigating “gorilla” urban interventions. Her firm’s commissions for culturally significant landscape renovations include the 1917 Clayton Genealogical Library and the 1957 Mackie and Kamrath-designed Gragg Building, which served NASA during Project Mercury. Ms. Robinson is a key proponent of building green infrastructure into urban landscapes and renovations. She is a charter member of the Houston Land Water Sustainability Forum, which educates the region on the benefits and technical implementation of low-impact development. Ms. Robinson received her B.L.A. from Louisiana State University (LSU) and has practiced for nearly 30 years in Texas and California. Her community service includes a seat on the Mayor’s Clean Houston Commission, the LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture Alumnae Advisory Committee, and sharing her expertise at conferences and universities. Ms. Robinson recently opened a branch office of her firm in Austin, Texas. She currently serves on The Cultural Landscape Foundation’s Stewardship Council.
