Meredith Gorres

Meredith assists with the Pioneers and What’s Out There programs, researching and writing essays on landscapes and landscape architects, among other duties. She served in the U.S. Army Reserves while attending college, earning a B.A. in anthropology from SUNY New Paltz in 2010, and a Master’s degree in historic preservation from the University of Maryland in 2014. Her final collegiate project dealt with tourist camps and motels that once lined both sides of Route 1 in College Park, Maryland. While in graduate school, Meredith worked as an intern at the Anne Arundel County Office of Planning and Zoning. Following graduation, she interned at Historic Annapolis, where she assisted with the revival of the long-dormant building marker program. In 2015, just prior to joining TCLF, Meredith was an intern at the National Capital Region offices of the National Park Service, where she assisted with various themed studies and worked on cultural landscape inventories for Burnside Bridge at Antietam National Battlefield and Chinn Ridge at Manassas National Battlefield Park.
