National Geographic Society's D.C. sculpture has been causing injuries for years. A plan to remove it has infuriated public art lovers.

More than a dozen letters with similarly strong exhortations to save “Marabar” have found their way to the HPRB since late March, when The Cultural Landscape Foundation published an article declaring the sculpture to be in danger. The nonprofit urged art aficionados to challenge the decision to remove the sculpture and interviewed Zimmerman herself about the plan.
