“I can’t think of any way they could be improved, other than that there should be more of them!”

On September 26-27, TCLF saw the successful conclusion of its fourth season of Garden Dialogues with four events in the Chicago Metropolitan Area. The Chicago tours were a fitting capstone to a successful and well-attended season.

Launched in 2012, the Garden Dialogues program provides an opportunity for attendees to visit exquisite private landscapes in the company of both the renowned landscape architects and designers who created them, and their clients, offering a unique take on the collaboration behind some of the country’s most spectacular landscape architectural jewels.

In 2015, the program attracted nearly 700 attendees to 46 Dialogues in fourteen metropolitan areas. Dialogues were held across the country in Aspen, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Connecticut, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, New York City, Palm Beach, Philadelphia, Sarasota, Vancouver, and Washington, D.C. Participating landscape architects and designers included Pamela Burton, FASLA; Jay Griffith; David Kamp, FASLA; Robin Key, ASLA; Keith LeBlanc, FASLA; Mario Nievera, FASLA; Cornelia Hahn Oberlander, FASLA; Larry Weaner, Affiliate ASLA; and Hank White, FASLA, among many others.

Here is just some of what the attendees had to say about this year’s events:

-“I loved Sunday's Garden Dialogue! It was very interesting, and so nice to hear about the project and to speak with the landscape architect and architect one-on-one. It was very comfortable and low-key, and allowed you to really absorb the project and ask questions.”

-“Seeing the property in its surroundings was breathtaking and the conversation with the owner, architect, and landscape architect was truly informative. It gave us insight into the collaborative process that can create such a place.”

-“The tour and discussion were wonderful! … I can’t think of any way that they could have been improved. The open format was great and gave us opportunities to engage with everyone. I do hope that you have more!”

TCLF would like to thank the program’s National Sponsors Seibert & Rice and The Davey Tree Expert Company and a host of local sponsors that rallied to make the season a rousing success. In addition, thanks go out to writer Annie Thornton who covered Garden Dialogues in New York and Colorado for Houzz. Plans are already in the works for next year’s Dialogues season, so stayed tuned in early 2016 to learn more.
