TCLF Honors William Stout, San Francisco Publisher, with 2011 Stewardship Excellence Award

TCLF is pleased to announce that William Stout has been selected to receive the 2011 Stewardship Excellence Award. Stout is being honored for his visionary and long-standing leadership as a publisher, in particular focusing on books that emphasize Modernism and Modern landscape architecture. After more than 15 years selling books about design, architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture in San Francisco, Stout moved into publishing. In 1995, William Stout Publishers began to fill a vacant niche, covering out of print titles and producing books on overlooked designers and topics. With too many titles to mention, including Living Modern by Waverly B. Lowell; Thomas Church, Landscape Architect edited Marc Trieb; Modern Public Gardens by JC Miller and Reuben Rainey; and Maybeck's Landscapes: Drawing in Nature by Dianne Harris, Stout has produced an unrivaled collection of publications that are scholarly, richly illustrated, and beautifully designed. The books together have raised the profile for Post War landscape architecture in the Bay Area and beyond.
