TCLF Welcomes New Board Members

During our fall Board meeting at the National Trust for Historic Preservation headquarters in Washington, D.C., TCLF was pleased to welcome three very impressive individuals to our Board: Mario Nievera, Lisa Lowry, and Holly Sharp.

Mario has been a frequent supporter of TCLF for several years, including contributing to our annual Silent Auction and attending several of our garden excursion events. Mario is the principal of Mario Nievera Design Incorporated, a landscape architecture and design firm with offices in Palm Beach and New York. He received his landscape architecture degree from Purdue University in 1987 and, since then, has championed great design, both historic and contemporary, on projects such as the restoration of Old Trees, an estate and gardens attributed to the Olmsted Brothers in Southampton, New York, and renovations to an eight-acre Stanford White-designed residence in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Mario’s civic endeavors are diverse and include service on the Landmarks Preservation Commission of Palm Beach, speaking engagements for nearly a dozen garden clubs across the country as well as American Society of Landscape Architect events, and supporting charities such as the American Red Cross Designer Showcase.

Lisa has been a great supporter of TCLF, sponsoring a number of students’ attendance at our Texas Landscapes for Living symposium this past May. She is an active community volunteer who champions the cause of Historic Preservation in her city of Fort Worth and has been affiliated with Historic Fort Worth, Inc., the local partner of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, since 1993. Her roles with this organization have included Fund Development Chairman, Historic Properties Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and Chairman of the Board from 2007 to 2009. In 2008 Ms. Lowry led the Board of Historic Fort Worth, Inc. in the effort to educate, save, and promote sensitive restoration of the Lawrence Halprin designed Heritage Park Plaza which had been closed by the city. This resulted in the park being listed on the National Register of Historic Places at the National Level of Significance on May 10, 2010. Her efforts to save this significant landscape are still ongoing.

Holly comes to us with tremendous financial management experience as a Certified Public Accountant and Director with LaPorte Sehrt Romig Hand, CPA’s and Consultants. Holly is also an adjunct professor of taxation for the A. B. Freeman School of Business, Tulane University and a Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified in Financial Forensics. She is active in many civic and charitable organizations, and is the immediate past president of the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans, currently serving as treasurer of the Contemporary Arts Center of New Orleans and New Orleans Science and Mathematics Charter School.

Please join us in welcoming these three to the TCLF Board!
