Frederick Law Olmsted, Sr. (April 26, 1822 - August 28, 1903), known as the father of landscape architecture, is most famous as the co-designer (with Calvert Vaux) of New York City’s Central Park. As detailed in the new What’s Out There Olmsted guide, he and his successor firms shaped cities, park and parkway systems, neighborhoods, campuses and more.
