Noel Dorsey Vernon, ASLA Emerita, received M.L.A., M.A. (history), and B.S.L.A. degrees from The Ohio State University, and a B.A. from Antioch College. Now retired, she served for many years as Associate Dean of the College of Environmental Design, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and is Professor Emerita of the Cal Poly Pomona Department of Landscape Architecture. A life-long educator and learner, she is a past Chair of the ASLA Historic Preservation Interest Group and a co-author of the NPS Historic American Landscapes Survey [HALS] Guidelines for Historical Reports. An original TCLF Board CoChair (with Sally Boasberg), she retired from the Board in 2019. Currently, she serves on the editorial board of Eden, the journal of the California Landscape and Garden History Society. Her areas of expertise are landscape history and cultural landscape preservation.
