Richard Williams’ modern architecture draws inspiration from the landscape, vernacular traditions and root principles of design – exalting the experience of place and the act of building simply and well. His projects are distinguished by formal rigor, aesthetic refinement, and an ethos of restraint. Recipient of numerous awards, the work produced by Mr. Williams and his colleagues has been published in Architectural Digest, Residential Architect, Elle Décor, Metropolitan Home, The New York Times, Washington Post, Faith & Form and Architectural Record among others. Two recent projects have been featured by TCLF in its Garden Dialogues programs: the renovation of Hugh Jacobsen’s  Four Pavilions in 2013, and a Modern Farmhouse in Garrett Park, MD in 2012 – both in collaboration with Gregg Bleam, FASLA.

Richard Williams, FAIA, received his B.A. in History & Literature from Harvard University in 1977, where he graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He studied Urban Design and Regional Planning at the University of Edinburgh, and received his M. Arch. from the University of Virginia in 1981, with highest honors.
