The garden was nominated by the Cultural Landscape Foundation, a Washington, D.C., nonprofit, which itself designated the garden a Landslide nationally significant, threatened landscape in 2016.

“The Georgia Trust’s designation of the garden by the pioneering and influential woman landscape architect Clermont Lee as a ‘Place in Peril’ reinforces the need well-informed stewardship of this significant and irreplaceable cultural landscape,” said Charles Birnbaum, TCLF’s President and CEO.
