Should a Park Include a Burial Ground? Residents of Newburgh, N.Y., Can’t Agree.

Now the Cultural Landscape Foundation, an education and advocacy group, has placed the park on its annual list of endangered sites, pointing to general decline, the absence of protective national landmark status and the interment scheme. The park is one of 12 landscapes designed by Olmsted and his descendants that make up the group’s list this year, the bicentennial of his birth.
