This Pittsburgh segment of the series will focus exclusively on author, environmentalist, and landscape architect, John Ormsbee Simonds, designer of the famous Mellon Square.
Nationally recognized speakers from both public and private practice will include several who worked directly with Simonds spanning a 50-year period, along with academics who will explore Simonds’ influential professional activities, his built legacy and unique design philosophy. The symposium will illuminate Simonds’ influence on the City of Pittsburgh, the field of landscape architecture, and his pioneering environmental planning efforts.
