Before discovering cultural landscapes and historic preservation, Jacky was an English professor for ten years. Stories have always been a throughline in her life and work. She is earning a Master’s degree in Historic Preservation at Goucher College, and is passionate about revealing and sharing the stories of marginalized groups and the places of importance to their communities. Jacky has researched the history of Baltimore’s historic Chinatown and the city’s Chinese American community, and is working on a National Register nomination, an oral history project, and a museum exhibition. She also serves on the board of the Ship Caulkers’ Houses in Baltimore and has researched the history of free and enslaved African Americans in Maryland.
