World War I Centennial Commission selects memorial design

The Cultural Landscape Foundation, a nonprofit landscape design group based in the District, has criticized plans for a memorial because they call for demolishing Pershing Park. The park was designed by landscape architect M. Paul Friedberg with a planting plan by landscape architects Oehme, van Sweden, which the Park Service has determined eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
