Andrew Fox is a landscape architect, associate professor, and University Faculty Scholar at North Carolina State University. He is also a founding co-director, with David Hill, AIA, of the Coastal Dynamics Design Lab, an interdisciplinary research and design initiative at North Carolina State University’s College of Design that addresses critical ecological and community-development challenges in coastal regions.
Mr. Fox specializes in the development and management of high-performing public landscapes, including the design and study of resilient urban landscapes, hazard mitigation best practices, green infrastructure and low-impact development techniques, and participatory design processes. His work across these realms has resulted in numerous honors and awards, including the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (2016); Landscape Architecture Foundation Case Study Investigation Research Fellowship (2015); American Institute of Architects Decade of Design Award, with David Hill, AIA (2014); recognition as a North Carolina State Community Engaged Faculty Fellow (2014); and a Center for Geospatial Analytics Faculty Fellow (2017). He has also been elected to the North Carolina State Academy of Outstanding Teachers (2014)andthe Academy of Outstanding Faculty Engaged in Extension (2012), and he has been named a Clearing Scholar by the Clearing Landscape Institute (2001). Mr. Fox holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Louisiana State University.
