Randolph Hester

Randolph Hester served on the Raleigh City Council, where he championed growth in downtown and the surrounding Raleigh area, working on various parks and the greenway. He co-founded Goals for Raleigh; initiated the Citizens Advisory Council; saved Oakwood and Chavis Heights from freeway destruction; and led the passage of the first Comprehensive Transportation Plan. He now directs the Center for Ecological Democracy in Durham and works for Spoonbill Action Voluntary Echo (SAVE) International in Berkeley, California.
